Porto & Surroundings

Porto, the second most important city in Portugal, always has its arms wide open to welcome all who visit it. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has scrolls to provide moments well spent, whether you wander the winding streets of downtown and the Ribeira, or contemplate the river and the neon work that tops the Port Wine cellars on the other side of the city’s margins. Heading north you will find Guimarães, the birthplace of the Nation, with its castle and the Ducal Palace of the Dukes of Guimarães. Also, Braga, the city of the archbishops, deserves a close visit, as still today maintains and protects, as few, Catholic traditions. The Douro River and its margins are also a must-see. The terraces, where the port wine vines are planted, are manifestations of man's adaptation to nature.
